Man hiking up to the Waterfall

The Waterfall Hike, Stellenbosch

Eden Forest, Parydyskloof

Stellenbosch, Western Cape

A lovely day out in the forest, the fynbos and the mountains. A short and simple hike to a waterfall with stunning views. The forest is full of pathways for walking and mountain biking and lots of different mushrooms growing under the pines. As you pass the forest and reach the top there is an unmarked trail to the left which leads to the gorge in the mountain and the little waterfall.

Eden Forest is a popular spot for local families to stroll around, picnic and mountain bike. And the hike is popular with students wanting a nature day out, without having to travel far. Abundant in protea flowers and fynbos it is really a stunning place to have a gentle day out. We expected to be there for only one hour/or so...but landed up spending hours wondering around and taking photos. Take water and snacks so you can enjoy as much time there as you like.

To the right of the waterfall is a hang over type of cave, and if you walk past it you can follow a trail that will take you above the waterfall... the fresh water is wonderful and the views are spectacular.
