Bobbejaans Rivier Trail, Bainskloof Pass
Eerste Tol, Bainskloof Pass
Bainskloof, Western Cape
Although most of the hike is on a clear trail, it is very steep down to the final water fall and rock pool. The Bobbejaans River Trail is moderate to difficult.
This is an out and back trial, you will need to cross a shallow pebble river at the start (and end), and then hike amongst the fynbos on the hill side for most of the way. The plants will offer flowers throughout the year and you just need to keep your eyes away from the mountain views and closely on the path to spot some of the interesting flora.
The waterfall and rock pools are a delightfully freezing little spot to have a dip, after the long hike. Its worth the tricky ramble down the hill (and back up again), if you're feeling sure footed. You will need shoes with good soles to do this hike.
You will need to book this hike in advance through Cape Nature.
