Platbakkies farm sits comfortably, all on its own, in the middle of a plateau. High up in the Northern Cape. A seemingly dry and desolate land...but in fact it is a land of thousands of little plants, this is the Succulent Karoo.

And this accommodation is luxurious after a full days drive through Namaqualand National Park.  Driving through Leliesfontein Pass and arriving as the sun was setting. Quite a spectacle driving up a mountain and seeing only flat land.

The Farmhouse is decorated with style and comfort at heart. We nested in this house with its marvelous blankets and bedding, for a whole week. Needing time to work during the day and explore every afternoon. The old farm kitchen is well equipped and even has some food and drink supplies available to purchase. There are NO shops close by, and the only town is Springbok, which is an hour and a half away. We bought lamb from the farm and gave a Farm-Style Lamb Stew a try....yes, it was amazing! 

Platbakkies is a really special place, and deserves a visit if you are in that general direction.
