Mudhutters, Morgan Bay
Oregan Cottage
Morgan Bay, Eastern Cape
This must be the sweetest and loveliest little cottage in the area! It oozes comfort and charm. Everything you may need after "roughing" it whilst hiking on the beaches and camping. The cottage has wi-fi, so we were able to work there for a few days. Enjoying the luscious permaculture gardens with its pretty flowers, edible plants and butterflies all about. There is also a gentle stroll down to a river if you need a quick break into nature.
Mudhutters built the Oregan Cottage themselves, it is a cob cottage, made with love. All the interior finishes are good quality, the linen, the towels...and the lovely homegrown salads and vegetables. One cannot dismiss the luxury of a clean and hot shower and then flopping onto a large and comfy bed at night.
It is a little out of the main part of town, so really quiet. No cars and bustling. And when you are ready to see the sea again its a nice drive down the hill. The Morgan Bay Cliffs are definitely worth a visit when you are in town, and also just a short drive away for an afternoon exploring mission.
And the Double Mouth Nature Reserve Hike is absolutely epic! You can view it here on our website. Take a full day out, with lots of water and snacks, sunblock and swimming costume. We spent a few hours on the far end of the beach and saw hundreds of dolphins, merely meters away.
You can read more about it on the Visit Eastern Cape website.
