Numbi Valley, De Rust
Klein Karoo
Numbi Valley was one of our first, and most favourite farm stays! Setting a tone for many more, inspiring us to keep travelling and finding more unique farm stays all over South Africa.
Offering wifi we were able to work from the cottage during the day, and adventure in and around the property every afternoon. Enjoying the aloe and all the plants that grow around the farm. There is also a lovely olive orchid and lots of permaculture grown seasonal fruit and vegetables, which can be bought for during your stay. Bright and colourful vegetables in a basket.
There is a crystal clear splash pool (big splash) with views of the distant Groot Swartberg Mountain range, which was covered in snow...the direction of Seweweekspoort Campsite, our next destination.
The cottage is cosy and stylish, with a fully equipped kitchen and space to sleep to four. To date, one our favorite bathrooms, with solar heated water a beautiful old stove/donkey boiler which heats up the water with firewood for the overcast days. A really lovely and comfortable place to work and relax for a few days. There is a great big indoor fireplace and outside is a fire pit..braaing with a view!
Numbi Valley also offers wood fired pizza nights, farm table dinners, yoga, massage and Permaculture farm tours and cob building workshops. You can view the Numbi Valley Story here.
Permaculture is a sustainable way to grow your food, and the tour is especially interesting for those of you wanting to/currently growing vegetables and fruit at home. And for those interested in sustainable living. So much useful information, that makes perfect sense.
