Cape Point coastal area and mountains

Cape Point National Park, Cape Town

Cape of Good Hope, Table Mountain National Park

Western Cape

Apart from the obvious tourist attraction, Cape Point Lighthouse, this reserve sports beautiful beaches that are quiet and remote. Diaz Beach is clean and pristine, and stretches far. You may see many cars and buses passing in the distance, but there are very few people on the beaches themselves, just the occasional curious visitor.

There is also the Venus Pool which is a crystal clear, natural, rock pool. The walk there is about 1 km long on a dirt road. There is not much parking space, but it doesn't get very busy. The wild and rocky coast line is immense, with lots of rock pools and shady areas. And extraordinary views, all the way across the ocean to Helderberg.

There Cape Point Nature reserve is also frequented by fisherman. Please note: You must have a fishing permit to fish anywhere in South Africa. And the Cape Point website has maps for all hiking trails at the reserve. We recommend you stock up on snacks at drinks at Simon's Town or Kommetjie as there are no shops anywhere else close by!

If you are looking for accommodation out there, we recommend Red Rock Cottage, Redhill. Its really nice and was wonderful not having to drive far after a full day gallivanting on the beaches.
